Mass Audubon Bird-a-thon Set for May 13-14

Mass Audubon will hold its largest fundraiser—the annual Bird-a-thon—May 13 & 14, 2022. The two-day birding event brings together supporters from across Massachusetts to raise essential funds for nature conservation, education, and advocacy. Since the event began in 1983, thousands of Bird-a-thon participants have raised over $3 million for Mass Audubon, its sanctuaries, and its programs across the state.

Bird-a-thon brings birders, nature-lovers, and families together to celebrate the environment and raise funds that provide essential year-round support for Mass Audubon’s conservation, nature education, and advocacy work.

Here’s How It Works

This year, 13 teams representing different Mass Audubon regions and departments are raising money while helping people of all ages connect with nature in communities across the state and beyond.

During Bird-a-thon weekend, the teams will compete head-to-head in two ways:

  1. Fundraising to support bird conservation in their local regions
  2. Attempting to identify the greatest number of bird species in 24 hours
