“Boston Boundless” Hiking Trail Opens

The Greater Boston area is peppered with parks and other public green spaces, and now there’s a way to hike through many of them via what is being dubbed the “Boston Boundless Trail.”

The interconnected trail system was created by Walking City Trails, a Massachusetts group focusing on urban hikes. It recently launched a series of online guides for what it calls the Boston Boundless Trail, a 12-section network of connected trails that loops around the city and covers more than 80 miles. Other cities and towns along the trail are Quincy, Milton, Canton, Dedham, Needham, Newton, Watertown, Cambridge, Somerville, Everett, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop. The longest section runs from East Milton to the Trailside Museum in the Blue Hills. This section also has the most elevation gain.

The digital guides provide turn-by-turn instructions, which can be used on smartphones or printed out. However, there are no signposts along the trails.

You can learn more about the trail in the Boston Globe article.
