Officials with New Hampshire’s Dept. of Public Health have issued warnings over toxic cyanobacteria blooms that have been reported on parts of Lake Winnipesaukee, including the waters off Tuftonboro, Carry Beach, Wolfboro, and Brewster Beach. The blue-green algae can be harmful and even fatal to pets and humans.
Officials are recommending that people and pets stay out of the water in the affected areas, and avoid using the water for drinking, washing dishes, or bathing.
Separately, cyanobacteria alerts have been issued for all of Lake Winnisquam and Clough Pond in Loudon.
