Eric Amos Jipson III of Lincoln, ME, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Bangor on a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol after diving his truck down a 35-cliff in Acadia National Park on June 27. Court Records show that Jipson was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.178, or more than twice the legal limit.
According to a police report, Jipson was driving more than 50 mph at around 8:35 p.m. near Sand Beach when he went off the Park Loop Road just north of the Blackwoods Campground. Neither Jipson nor his passenger were injured in the incident.
