New Hampshire’s Lakes Region Conservation Corps (LRCC) was one of more than 1,000 AmeriCorps programs that were cut across the country after the Trump Administration slashed the agency’s budget in April. The LRCC’s work includes monitoring water quality in the Lakes Region, performing trail maintenance, conducting educational programs, and removal of invasive plants from area waterways. Due to the budget cuts, the LRCC lost a $567,000 grant earmarked to support 29 members in 2025. Some members had already started their service when the cuts were announced. The group is now scrambling to find a way to replace the lost funds.
