Vermont has announced the completion of the state’s first fully adaptive mountain bike trail system at Richmond Mountain Trails in Bolton.
The new system, called the Driving Range, will allow riders with disabilities to share the trails with non-adaptive riders. The nearly four miles of trails range from beginner to expert, and were built by volunteers on 256 acres of private land. The work took two years to complete.
“By building an adaptive-friendly network, from design through construction, Richmond Mountain Trails is providing miles of safe, thrilling and new trails that can accommodate all riders,” reads the RMT website. “With trails that give adaptive riders a sense of belonging, that allow access to miles of trails in one location, and that are equally exciting and fun for riders on two-wheeled mountain bikes, The Driving Range will be a truly inclusive place to ride. We are excited to be a part of the movement across the state to improve inclusivity and access in mountain biking.”
