This venerable camp in western Maine provides ready access to the famed Rapid River, home to some of the world’s best fly fishing for wild, native brook trout and landlocked salmon. First opened in 2008 and modeled on the hut-to-hut hiking experience found in Europe and New Zealand, MH&T is a trail network linking a series of welcoming, eco-friendly “huts” where snowshoers, Nordic skiers, and fat-tire bike riders can spend the night, get a hot meal and shower, and commune with other outdoorsy travelers.
Family matters in this special episode focused on the land and sea surrounding the coastal Maine communities of Camden, Rockland, and Lincolnville. Videographers and friends Zach Hand and Kevin Erdvig explore the former’s home and family ties through a range of activities, including a striped bass fishing trip with Zach’s brother, Steven, who guides out of Rockland. The episode also showcases the incredible sea kayaking and hiking available along this beautiful part of Penobscot Bay. Later, Zach and Kevin pay a visit to an organic blueberry farm in Lincolnville, run by Zach’s parents.
